
4. Extension to multi-access circuits
The notion of parametric representation can be extended to a multi-access circuit under the same conditions as in the case of a quadripole:
no independent sources in the circuit ;
for each access, the current entering one terminal exits through the other terminal.
Let there be an n-port circuit satisfying the above conditions. We define, for each access k, the 2 n quantities V k and I k . Since the circuit is linear, n quantities can be expressed in linear form as a function of n others. For example, we define the Z parameters of the n-port circuit by expressing voltages as a function of currents:
