7. Superconductivity
High Temperature System (HTS) superconducting electronics have been showing gains in performance for several years, making them a breakthrough technology for telecommunications receivers, hence the decision to tackle the issue of bringing this technology to maturity. The work carried out has led to the construction of two value chains: one for the supply of superconducting circuits, the other for the production of the cryogenic environment for the systems, with priority given to European SMEs.
In principle, High Critical Temperature Superconductors (HTSC) enable quality factors at least one order of magnitude higher than those of the state of the art at the frequencies under consideration. For example, the feasibility of 2D SHTC planar resonators at 1 GHz with a very high quality factor (Q > 100,000 or even 200,000) and supporting reactive powers of the order...
