1. Electromagnetic compatibility: theoretical prerequisites required
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is both a very old and a very new profession. Very old, because the coupling between communication lines used to transmit messages in Morse code dates back to 1838. These couplings, which resulted in interfering sounds in the receiver of the adjoining line, gave rise to what was soon called "crosstalk". The work of Heaviside and his reformulations of Maxwell's equations enabled this problem to be formally resolved. It was not until the twentieth century that an engineer working on the development of fast computers, Jean-Paul Vabre
