Faraday, Cotton-Mouton or Kerr magneto-optical microscopy was soon identified as a powerful tool for analyzing the structure and dynamic behavior of magnetic domains. This inertial-free technique directly reveals domains rather than their walls. Two imaging methods are commonly used :
