1. Introducing lithium batteries

It has become common practice, particularly in the case of lithium batteries, to refer to the positive electrode as the cathode and the negative as the anode. We know that a positive electrode is alternately cathode and anode during a cycle consisting of discharge followed by charge (see § 2.3 and Figure 7 in the Theoretical Considerations chapter). ), while the situation is reversed for a negative.
