9. Outlook

It's important to bear in mind that the lithium-ion system, which implements the "rocking chair" concept, is only fifteen years old. Both its technical and commercial development have been, and remain, rapid. It is therefore somewhat imprudent to give the current state of the art (2005) the status of a perennial printed document, when :

  • new families of "plasticized" polymer electrolytes are being proposed and studied in depth [48] . Applications also concern supercapacitors [49] ;

  • Li-ion technology can deliver both high energy densities and high power densities, by modifying electrode thicknesses and surfaces. This type of performance should prove decisive in the field of hybrid...
