4. Decision-making studies for the development of distribution facilities
Decision-making studies are technical and economic studies designed to prepare and inform decision-making. They are more or less detailed, depending on the scale of the investments envisaged. Indeed, studies for source substations are more complex than those for MV networks, which in turn are more detailed than those for LV networks. In distribution, there are few major projects and a myriad of smaller ones, so the overall financial stakes for each voltage level are fairly similar.
In general, decision studies make it possible to select the most economically and technically advantageous of several development strategies, and to determine the benefit/cost ratio if the investment is already justified (RBC greater than the discount rate), or failing that, the optimum theoretical date when the investment should be made (excluding financial constraints).
