2. Fault-finding procedure
Before you can work on a cable, the following steps must be carried out in accordance with current French regulations:
following the triggering of a protection device, the department responsible for operating the network in question must isolate the section of cable presumed to be faulty;
this section of network must be consigned (UTE C18-510 or CPP Carnet de Prescription au Personnel) and requisitioned by a consignment/requisitioning officer for the benefit of a testing officer, with the issue of a consignment and requisitioning notice. This test operator must be an electrician authorized by his employer and trained in fault-finding techniques; consequently, all communications between the test operator and any maneuvering personnel (Code Général des manœuvres EDF) will be by collated messages only;...
