Overview
FrançaisABSTRACT
A low-voltage energy production can now be connected to an existing network. One advantage of this practice is to contribute to the environmental French and European objectives where the production is derived from renewable sources. However this connection process requires precise technical knowledge and prior studies. This article details the impact of the connection of the decentralized production to distribution networks, in the case of High Voltage Networks (HVNs) and Medium Voltage Networks (MVNs). It also focuses on the issue of the performance, protection and management of connections to isolated non-interconnected networks.

BT: simplifying term designating the effective alternating voltage between 50 and 500 V for BTA, as defined in standard NF C18-510, which is the reference in France in terms of safety. Internationally, this voltage is also referred to as Low Voltage (LV).
CRE: Commission de Régulation de l'Énergie, the legal name of the independent administrative authority responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the electricity and gas markets in France. This body was set up and its powers defined by Law 2000-108 of February 10, 2000.
DEIE: Operating Information Exchange System
DTR: Documentation Technique de Référence (Technical Reference Documentation) of a DSO, sometimes also called "Référentiel Technique" (Technical Reference Manual).
EDF : Électricité de France
ELD: Entreprises Locales de Distribution. There are 170 of them in France, responsible for managing the public electricity distribution networks that were not nationalized in 1946, and accounting for 5% of French consumption.
ERDF : Électricité Réseau Distribution France, an EDF subsidiary since January 1 2008, responsible for managing the majority of France's public electricity distribution networks.
GRD: Gestionnaire des Réseaux de Distribution d'électricité (electricity distribution system operator), the legal name of the electricity distributor, when it comes to the tasks assigned to it by law 2000-108 of February 10,...
