2.1 Modeling principles
The approach to modeling transients in power systems is based on the use of basic electrical circuit components. An example of a capacitor bank interlock study is shown in figure 2 . The power system is usually quite large, comprising a large number of devices and systems, but in most transient studies it is sufficient to represent a reduced section of the system in detail and use an equivalent for the rest of the system.
