Anode; Anode

Electrode where an electrochemical oxidation reaction takes place; it captures the electrons given up by chemical species to supply them to the external electrical circuit; it corresponds to the negative electrode of a discharging accumulator and vice versa.

Cathode; Cathode

Electrode where an electrochemical reduction reaction takes place; it transfers electrons from the external electrical circuit to the chemical species; it corresponds to the positive electrode of a discharging accumulator and vice versa.
