2. Principles of explosion protection
2.1 Gaseous atmospheres
With regard to the risk of ignition due to mechanical sparks or static discharges, protection lies primarily in the choice of materials used to make up the equipment enclosure. For example, the mass content of alloys used must never exceed 7.5% magnesium, for Category 2 equipment (article 8 of EN 60079-0).
