5. Who are the producers of grain-oriented electrical steel?
The market for grain-oriented electrical steel is worldwide, at around 2.1 million tonnes. In France in 2013, grain-oriented steel is produced exclusively at ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel UGO's Isbergues sheet metal plant (owned by Ugine SA until the late 1990s). Hot-rolled coils are delivered from ThyssenKrupp's Duisburg plant.
Other European producers include Tata-Cogent in Newport (UK), Stalprodukt in Bochnia (Poland) and ArcelorMittal in Frydek-Mistek (Czech Republic). Worldwide, the main producers are NSSMC (Japan), JFE (Japan), AKS (USA), NLMK (Russia), Posco (South Korea), Wisco (China) and Bao Steel (China).
