6. Magnetic properties of grain-oriented laminations

The general principles relating to the properties of soft magnetic materials, of which grain-oriented laminations are a part, are described at [D 2 121] and are not repeated in detail here. Only the specific points relating to grain-oriented laminations are discussed.

Transformers, in which the exchange of energy between a primary and secondary winding takes place via a magnetic core whose axis is common to both windings, make use of the almost unidirectional magnetic properties of grain-oriented laminations.
