1. Basic association rules

The combination of converters with an intermediate link stage is used to exchange energy between sources S1 and S2.

The choice of the type of connection, current, voltage or mixed, is directly linked to the nature of sources S1 and S2 and must therefore comply with the following rules:

  • The reversibility properties of the sources and the link lead to the choice of the static characteristics of the switches used in the CS1 and CS2 converters;

  • source and link compatibility must be ensured over the entire frequency horizon, and in some cases requires the installation of control loops to control voltage or current quantities in the low-frequency or DC domain.
