5. Conclusion

In both new-build and renovation projects, the most common form of insulation is still internal, but external insulation is gaining ground, particularly in renovation projects.

The RT 2020 or RE 2020 regulation has been in force and mandatory for all new buildings since 1 er January 2021, but it has already applied to new public buildings since 2018.

These 2020 regulations call for as many homes as possible to produce their own energy to meet their needs, and then some. As a result, builders and designers are studying new energy-saving materials.

As a result, RT 2020 will be based on the passive house principle, which implies consuming as little energy as possible thanks to high-performance thermal insulation, efficient thermal systems and natural light.
