1. A few statistics
A burglary occurs every 90 seconds in France, i.e. almost 985 burglaries a day (323,000 in 2011 and 359,500 in 2012). This statistic does not take into account attempted or unreported burglaries (estimated at 20% of burglaries with theft, and over 69% for attempted burglaries), or the specific crime rates of certain départements (table 1 ).
