INTRODUCTION
A floor or wall tiling project must be carefully planned. The substrate must be checked and prepared before the actual tiling work begins.
The component with the greatest impact on installation quality is the nature of the substrate (cement, wood, old tiles, etc.), which must be stable, porous and flat.
Wall installation requires particular attention to this last point, and the use of a thickening mortar adhesive. The degree of exposure to water must also be taken into account, as well as mechanical and chemical stresses in the case of industrial premises. A good knowledge of all bonding and jointing products, mastics and underlayments, as well as their classification, is essential for proper selection and application.
When laying tiles, the choice of material is important, but so is the choice of adhesive and mortar to guarantee impeccable results and perfect adhesion.
Adhesive for tiles and earthenware comes in several versions to suit all substrates (standard ready-to-use adhesive, mortar-glue, etc.).
Depending on the size of the room to be tiled, it may be necessary to include expansion joints to allow for movement and ensure that the work remains stable over time.
While tiles designed for floors can also be laid on walls, the reverse is not a priori possible.
Industrial floors require special resistance to machine traffic, cleaning products, chemicals and oils.
Pools and basins require resistance to water, frost, chlorinated or brominated sanitizers...
