1. General rules

1.1 Cladding classification

Cladding is a covering that covers the exterior walls of a building. It can be made of a variety of materials (wood, sheet metal, PVC, etc.) and is attached directly to the building structure. Attached cladding, on the other hand, is fastened to either a wood or metal frame.

Because of the diversity of existing products, their design and fastening systems, cladding can be classified according to several characteristics.

  1. Classification by element size :

    • cladding mounted on framing with small elements: these structures are derived from the "roofing" technique (slates, flat tiles, wood shingles, bitumen shingles or various non-traditional elements);...
