4.1 Annealing
Annealing is a heat treatment used to eliminate the effects of a previous treatment (thermal or mechanical) which may have altered the equilibrium state of the alloy's basic components. The aim is to return the metal to a state close to equilibrium, characterized by the formation of homogeneous austenite.
