6. Certifications for commercial buildings

Certivéa, a subsidiary of CSTB (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment), is accredited by Cofrac to issue environmental certifications for non-residential buildings. The aim of these certifications is to distinguish and enhance the environmental, energy, health and comfort performance of tertiary sector buildings, whether private or public, under construction, renovation or in operation; they also apply to sports facilities. They assess not only building performance, but also the way in which operations are managed.

These certifications can be supplemented by an energy label to highlight their energy performance, or a "bio-sourced" label testifying to the integration of eco-materials in construction.
