4. Definition of measures relating to "laser" effect machines
In addition to Decree no. 2007-665 of May 2, 2007 on the safety of outgoing laser equipment, the following provisions have been adopted.
4.1 General
The laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) is a device capable of producing or amplifying electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths corresponding to optical radiation, essentially by the process of controlled stimulated emission.
In addition to side effects due to operating conditions and the risk of fire and burns, the main danger posed by these devices comes from illumination. The effects on the eye depend on the laser's characteristics, its distance from the eye, and factors linked to the properties of the eye's various media. This danger is considerably increased...
