6. Smoke control
It can be natural, mechanical or mixed, except where regulations require mechanical smoke extraction (hospital corridors, for example).
Technical instruction no. 246 deals in detail with technical modalities.
6.1 Premises
As a general rule, they must be smoke-free if their surface area on the ground or upper floors exceeds 300 m 2 , or if their surface area in the basement exceeds 100 m 2 (special case for educational establishments).
