11. Conclusion

Here, then, are the broad outlines of the ERP fire safety regulations. It has taken more than twenty-five years for all the regulations concerning the various types of establishment to be published, in the wake of the decree of June 25 1980, which laid the foundations (the text concerning the latest type: parking lots, was published on July 08 2006). What's more, in view of developments, some texts have already been overhauled to bring them into line with current realities (types R, U, GA and L in particular).

The European Union will, sooner or later, lead to general harmonization in the field of fire safety, which will ensure uniformity in terms of technical installations.

Many of these provisions are already common, and are the subject of EN standards that are uniformly applicable in all countries of the European Community or other states...
