At 2.3.3 , we discussed the use of hydraulic binder treatment to increase the modulus of gravel used in road bases, enabling it to better perform its function of distributing stresses and reducing punching on the subgrade.
The same result can be achieved using a hydrocarbon binder: this is the principle behind bitumen gravel and emulsion gravel.
