2.1 Composition
Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) is not a separate polymer. It's actually a polyethylene to which chlorine and sulfur chloride have been added. These chemicals added to polyethylene have two effects:
they prevent crystallinity, resulting in an amorphous, rubbery product;
they facilitate vulcanization .
