3. Behavior along a recovery surface (concrete-concrete interface)

3.1 State of the art

The behavior of an interface subjected to longitudinal shear stress can be described using shear-friction theory.

It should be noted, however, that the term "shear-friction theory" is misleading, as it actually encompasses several other physical and mechanical phenomena.

This theory is based on the initial assumption that the mechanism for transmitting shear stresses at a bearing surface (concrete interface) subjected to external shear and compressive forces is provided exclusively by friction.
