4. Assumptions for sizing the recovery surface

4.1 Fundamental considerations

Reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete structural elements reinforced with a concrete cover at least 40 mm thick NF EN 1992-4 (2018), or at least 60 mm thick for bridge structures, can be dimensioned as "monolithic" elements if shear forces at the interface between the new concrete and the existing concrete are limited, i.e. if there is continuity of deformations over the height of the section.
