7. Unified procedure for assessing ruin costs

From now on, all phenomena involving the instability of plates subjected to uniaxial normal stresses, shear stresses or concentrated transverse forces will be subject to a unified procedure in principle, similar in every respect to that applicable to bar instabilities such as buckling and tilting.

This procedure is summarized by the flow chart in figure 30 , in which the symbol C is used here as a generic symbol for the specific instability under consideration.
