2. Recessed post feet

2.1 Constructive measures

In a building, when deflection requirements are paramount (in the presence of an overhead crane, for example), it may be worthwhile to embed the column feet. This choice has a cost on the foundations (volume of concrete, reinforcement), but also on the steel part of the attachment (more substantial rods, stiffening).

  • Most common simple design

    The most common design consists of welding a base plate to the end of the column and connecting it to the foundation with 4 anchor rods (see figure 16 ).
