1. Analysis of the phenomenon

Two phenomena are responsible for door instability (figure 1 ):

  • expansion, which affects wood but also other materials;

  • longitudinal shrinkage of wood and wood products.

In both cases, we have a relative elongation dL of one face with respect to the other and therefore a curvature whose deflectionf (in mm) is given by the following relationship : f=LdL8e
