1. General

There are two types of joint: corner and wire.

A wire assembly comprises at least two parts with parallel wires, otherwise it is a corner assembly.

They perform two essential functions: mechanical and sealing.

• The mechanical role is obvious and will be developed below.

• The window's airtightness role is obvious, as it contributes to the "closed" function of the premises it helps to enclose. This function is incorporated into the regulations.

Assemblies represent discontinuity zones in the window plane, and must not be allowed to compromise the "watertight" function.
