2. Environmental standards and requirements for urban lighting

2.1 Street lighting standards

  • The NF EN 13201 series of public lighting standards sets out lighting criteria that are satisfactory for users of public spaces in terms of :

    • visual performance to see and be seen for safe travel;

    • to protect people and property in the city and reduce feelings of insecurity;

    • quality of night-time perception of the living environment in conditions of comfort satisfactory to everyone;

    • a factor in enhancing the environment and structuring urban development.
