ABSTRACT
Escalators and moving walks are governed by Directive 2006/42 / EC and by Standard NF EN 115-1 of July 19, 2017.
This article looks at the essential health and safety requirements that it imposes on these stairs of a somewhat particular kind, and which relate to the characteristics of these materials (capacity, speed, nominal weight), but also to their installation (safety devices, intermediate supports).
These harmonized standards also contain the procedures for assessing the conformity of escalators and moving walks, and the requirement for CE marking.
