2.1 Emptying: best practices

Oil changes must be carried out by an approved professional.

Periodic checks should be carried out to verify the thickness of deposits at the bottom of the pit. If this deposit occupies around two-thirds of the total depth between the liquid level and the invert (bottom), you should schedule an emptying operation as soon as possible.

Important recommendations

  • It's important to keep an eye on this height, because septic tanks can continue to "work" when they're almost full. In fact, the liquid then makes its way through the deposit, instead of staying in the tank. Pre-treatment is then non-existent.
