2.1 Decrees and Orders
Decree no. 2004-964 of September 9, 2004, amended by Decree no. 2008-291 of March 20, 2008, on elevator safety, stipulates that 17 safety devices (reduced to 16 by Decree no. 2014-1230 of October 21, 2014) must be installed on elevators that are not equipped with them, in three periods up to 2018 (article R. 125-1-2 of the French Construction and Housing Code).
These systems cover both passenger and responder safety.
