4.1 Principle

Compared with H 2 O-LiBr systems, NH 3 -H 2 O 1-stage machines enable access to evaporation temperatures well below 0°C, making them very attractive, whether for industrial refrigeration or heat pump operation applied to home heating. On the other hand, as we have seen, they lead to lower COPs, of the order of 0.5, compared with COPs of 0.8 commonly achieved by 1-stage H 2 O-LiBr
