Grandeur équivalente; equivalent value

Physico-chemical quantity characteristic of a heterogeneous medium when calculated by a mathematical model weighting the same quantity considered for each of the medium's components or phases. For example, the equivalent thermal conductivity for a porous medium made up of a gas (air) and a fibrous solid is calculated as a function of the thermal conductivities of the gas component (air) and the solid component (glass wool).
