4. Insulation properties

The qualities of a good insulator are :

  • good resistance to heat transmission;

  • good mechanical strength ;

  • a very wide temperature range ;

  • good resistance to operating temperatures;

  • be non-flammable;

  • be chemically neutral (non-corrosive);

  • be resistant to external aggressions (humidity, rodents, etc.);

  • low specific mass to avoid overloading the systems;

  • low implementation costs.
