1. Definition of thermal insulation

The following terms are taken from ISO, CEN and NF standards (see [Doc. BE9858 ]).

Thermal insulation is a generic term used to describe the process of reducing heat transfer through a system, or to describe the component or system that performs this function.

Thermal insulation can be achieved using an insulating material, product or system.
