5.1 Regulations
Breweries now come under heading 2220, entitled "Preparation or preservation of food products of plant origin...".
Smaller breweries, which use less than 2t/d of plant raw materials (cereals, malt, hops...), taking into account the day when they use the most in the year, are not concerned by the regulations. However, they must comply with the French Environment Code, the French Public Health Code, the French Local Authorities Code and the French Departmental Health Regulations.
Breweries governed by regulations on Installations Classées Protection de l'Environnement (ICPE) are subject to different regimes, depending on the scale of the risks or impacts they may generate:
