6. CO2 impact of the ADEME scenario
In France, the positive impact of wind and solar power on greenhouse gas emissions can only be limited, since CO 2 emissions from the electricity sector in France are low. They amounted to 29.1 million tonnes in 2013 out of 360, or less than 8% of total emissions. We may question the relevance of an environmental policy that prioritizes the allocation of the nation's resources to support power generation which, in the most optimistic hypothesis, can only achieve a very small improvement in the overall balance of French emissions, as highlighted by the Court of Auditors .
