3. Diagrams used for absorption cycles

The main advantage of liquid absorption refrigeration cycles is that they require less mechanical power than their vapour compression counterparts (less than 1%). Using a thermodynamic trithermal cycle, they enable medium- or high-temperature heat to be used directly to produce cold, with little or no mechanical energy input. As such, they are theoretically more efficient overall in terms of primary energy than vapour compression cycles [BE 8 095]
