Activation (nuclear)
Transformation of a stable isotope into a radioactive one following the interaction of radiation.
Activation (chemical)
Attack of an unreactive siliceous component by a strong base (action of cement alkalis on slag).
Bremsstrahlung
Broad-spectrum electromagnetic braking radiation induced by the deceleration of charged particles in matter.
Clinker
Product of the firing at around 1,450°C of a mixture of 80% limestone and 20% clay, the basis of the composition of Portland cements after grinding.
Criticality
Condition in which the number of neutrons emitted by fission is equal to the number of neutrons lost by leakage or absorption.
