4. Economy

4.1 General

Industrial experience is limited; in France, the supply of fuel for the Phénix reactor and the first two cores of Superphénix do not constitute a representative basis for the industrial costs of the process; on the other hand, they do set "ceiling" values.

The processing of irradiated fuel from the Phénix reactor, although limited in quantity, ensures the future feasibility of industrial processing of RNR spent fuel under economic conditions comparable to those for light-water reactor fuel.
