2. Other reprocessing processes
The PUREX process was not the first, and its development and success have not prevented other processes from being studied in parallel. Reprocessing processes are generally divided into aqueous and non-aqueous (also known as dry) processes.
2.1 Aqueous processes
These processes, which share the feature of using nitric media with the PUREX process, have been or can be combined with the PUREX process using ion exchange, precipitation and solvent extraction techniques (using a solvent other than TBP).
