6. Recirculation loops

Recirculation loops provide the link between the vessel and the primary circuit equipment: steam generators (SGs), pumps and pressurizer. The primary circuit is made up of three or four loops, each comprising a SG and a pump (three loops for 900 MW PWRs, four for 1,300, 1,450 MW PWRs and the EPR™) (figure 14 ).

6.1 General design

For reasons of economic optimization, we aim for the most compact possible layout of primary equipment in the reactor building.
