1. Cutting phenomenon

The theory of cutting is explained in the articles on mechanics, physics ( B 7 040) and modeling ( B 7 041) and tool damage ( B 7 042) in the present treaty.

Figure 1 defines the various technical terms and symbols used in this article.

We will briefly describe the various phenomena involved in chip formation, which determine the tool's working conditions and service life.
