1. Industrial context
The rear axles of city and compact cars in the B and C segments now commonly use so-called deformable or semi-deformable crossmembers, which help to reduce the cost and size of the axle . These sleepers have the advantage of integrating numerous functions in a single component: guidance, anti-rollover, filtering, etc. (figure 1 ).
On the other hand, the manufacture of these deformable sleepers requires the often complex assembly of numerous parts using the MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding process.
