4. Determining a pin

We propose here a calculation method with its own recommended values, bearing in mind that each designer has his own approach depending on whether he favors tool or machine performance, operating safety, quality, etc.

4.1 General features

The cutting edge of a broach tooth is defined in the same way as for any other cutting tool. On the other hand, while the housing and immediate evacuation of swarf is not a major problem in most other tools, in broaching, especially internal broaching, this function is of the utmost importance. This feature will therefore be studied and implemented accordingly.
